Xroniko _ Kore Candle



A handmade 18cms long beeswax candle inspired by the ancient free-standing Greek statues of the Archaic period (ca. 500 B.C). Showing female figures of a young age, always restrained, with an archaic smile, not showing any emotion.

Made from beeswax and soya wax, in either white or beeswax colour with added essential oils.

Kore! Meaning κόρη, “maiden” is a sculpture of female figure found in the Archaic period, always of a young age. Kouroi, are the youthful male equivalent of kore statues. Always reserved, with an archaic smile, Korai never show emotion. And unlike the naked kouroi, korai are shown wearing either thick, heavy peplos or lighter garments such as the chiton.

There are several theories as to whether the korai represent mortals or deities. What is known is that Korai were also used as offerings to the gods or the dead.

A handmade beeswax candle collection by xronikon concept store inspired by the Ancient, marble statues from the traditional treasure of Greece and the island of Cyprus. A figure-shaped candle collection that almost look like tamata (votive offerings). A well-known tradition in the Greek religion that finds its origins in ancient Greece.

All items are handmade and produced on the island of Cyprus.
Beeswax is a natural product therefore the color might differ from the photograph.
